Valerie Jordan, who lives in Norfolk, wrote the first draft of this Diary in 2002,
her late husband Aleyn, giving her the time to be able to do this. It was however, a few years later that she began to complete it due to the loss of her husband in 2003. Since then she has written a further two drafts, the final one being in 2011.
Matt the Cat’s character is her own creation and he is pleased that his Diary has finally been published and that his escapades can finally be read. It is a heartwarming, informative and entertaining read, for all animal lovers. Matt is telling all his friends to buy it and Valerie hopes you will too!!!
She has also written short stories, one of which has been broadcast by the BBC’s Radio Norfolk and another published on one of their web sites, This Norfolk Love.
Before writing this book, Valerie has since 1988 been setting quizzes. She has set quizzes for the local Quiz League and also ran the Great Yarmouth Area Town Quiz for a number of years as well as the annual Furzedown Hotel Quiz Shield Night. Her Fun Quiz nights at local hotels, in particular the Raynscourt Hotel, commenced in 1991 and she turned professional in 1992, these continued for many years including Turkey and Tinsel breaks from 1996 when she presented a Fun Quiz Afternoon at the Raynscourt Hotel up to 2004 when she retired due to the loss of her husband Aleyn in 2003.
In 1990 she had published her first book “Guess the Question!” one of her own ideas, which always managed to tantalize and amuse and in 1992 “Guess the Question!” Volume Two was published followed by a reprint.
In 2006 she decided to publish her book of Matt the Cat! “Terrible Teasers” which she had been collecting and compiling for fourteen years. She has also had published Matt the Cat! Whiz Kids’ Quiz Book along with an updated “Guess the Question!” In total she has had published 7,500 quiz books.
Valerie has also represented Great Yarmouth in 1970 on the Radio Quiz Programme “Treble Chance” against such celebrities as the late Ted Moult, Nan Winton and Neil Durden-Smith. She has also appeared on the television quiz programme “Gambit” with her husband Aleyn in 1979.
